Harry Bertoia, an italian furniture designer, is best known for his wire chairs: the "Diamond Chair" and the "Bird Chair" (1952). They are unusually beautiful pieces of furniture. Bertoia created an icon of modern design introducing a new material, industrial wire mesh to the world of furniture design. His furniture represents his concept of art: relationship between form and space. The "Bird Chair" looks like a bird with spread wings. Its organic, human-friendly form helped to create a new look for modernism.
