Theorically , all the objects around have an author, thogh we rarely know their name. And yet some anonymous pieces of design win us over because important designer-furniture often bears rhe same basic characteristics, impalpable but precise: a harmony of line , careful attention to materials and of course, functionality . These pieces also communicate a sense of the period and experience , of the work of those unnamed people who created and modified them till they reached their present state. We are reminded of traditional forms , like the shape of the typical country chair -with its wicker-seat, or traditional sofas with their familiar rounded outline.
